Hi Friends!
I wanted to share my daughter, Andrea Zimmer, thoughts with you all for the 4th of July.

This July 4th almost all of us will cookout, spend time with family and friends, relax and celebrate our country's "Birthday"-Without a second thought of the MANY, MANY SOLDIERS who have answered our nation's call and have ever so bravely given their lives for us to enjoy the luxury of doing whatever we wish not only on this holiday but every other day. This July 4th there will be soldiers in Iraq, Afganistan, Korea who will eat their MRE's and Chow- only wishing they too could be with their family. I don't know how they do it, these brave men, I would be far from happy to get up everyday. Yet, just like yesterday and the day before they get up, put on their uniform and those uncomfortable combat boots and go to work in those giant sandoxes. So many of us forget their sacrifice. The being away from their spouse and children, and missing most all of life's simple luxuries.

My uncle has fought in this war and I have seen how war can change a man. My husband's best friend, who was our best man, is serving his second trip to Afganistan. They fight for us and most of us don't take the time to say "Thank You" or to say a quick word of prayer for their safety, which in turn gives us ours.

Honestly, up until my husband joined- I could not see the sacrifice. Silly, but true.

All U.S. Military on American soil or Foreign give up alot to answer our nation's call. I understand people saying "they chose to". I ask what if no one chose to? It is a huge sacrifice, not only for the service member but for their wives,children, girlfriend's etc. Do you know how it feels to know that your husband could easily go to work that day and be deployed by the end of the work day? Yes it does happen-it's called a quick call.

Serving our country is not for the faint of heart. So as you all go about celebrating the 4th just remember our military.
