About Us
THE DENNIS FAMILY, a trio of ladies based in Millbrook Alabama, have made quite an impact on the Country Gospel/Christian Country Music world with the anointing of God and the spirit that lives within. Their dedication & commitment to the Lord's work has brought them national attention with numerous achievements & Awards.
Paulette Pynes, Alto of the trio, songwriter, and original member of the group, has been blessed with many things, one of which was her song, "Mountain Climber", being in the Top 80 Christian Country Music Chart for almost a year and climbing all the way into the Top 20 to # 2.
Denise Weldon, Lead singer, being the youngest of the trio has certainly not hampered her in her songwriting and singing abilities. Her talents have been amply rewarded. Her song, "Train For Glory" was in the Top 80 Christian Country Music Chart for 10 months and in the Top 20 for 3 of those months.
Millis Brown, Tenor of the trio, songwriter and comedian of the bunch has brought the crowds to tears with laughter with her comical attributes. Don't be mistaken by her joking and clowning around though, she loves the Lord and is 110% serious about His work. Her song, "Thank You Lord" was in the Top 80 Christian Country Chart for several months, peaking in the Top 20 at #13.
There are other members who work extremely hard behind the scenes. Paulette's husband, Wheat, is the bus driver, manager, booking agent, mechanic; you name it, he does it. With God's blessing and guidance and Wheat's willingness to help further God's kingdom, he get's them to each destination. They do approximately 150 to 170 bookings each year. Wheat always lets people know that he cannot do it alone and that God is the only way he gets things done. Rex runs the sound for the group and also plays drums with The Dennis Family Band. The Band is used on special occasions. Millie's daughter, Shae Brown, is the Table Tech and Gofer Girl. Paulette's and Millie's sister, Dona Dennis-Brooks, is the group's secretary. It takes team effort to make things work. It takes everyone to do the job no matter how big or small.
The Dennis Family has had the privilege to grace the stage with most of the top groups in gospel music today. They have had the pleasure of making television appearances and radio shows throughout the Southeast. God is doing tremendous things through their ministry, for which God is glorified. Pastors, church leaders and laymen alike are astounded at the seasoned ministry of these ladies. If God does not prepare you, you cannot do the work (Luke 4:18). They are dedicated to spending their lives spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, wounded and brokenhearted.
They are emerging as one of the church's most successful emissaries. They are capable of bridging the best of old music to the best of the new music, as well as the ability to write and perform their own music. On their latest project, Mountain Climber, the scores and lyrics were written by them. The title cut was written by Paulette through an article in the Singing News. Wow! What a song!! Train for Glory, which is a very upbeat song and surely to move you, was written by Denise. They also arranged the score on two of the songs on this project: What I Owe and Someday Soon, which were written by some very close friends of theirs. Other recordings to their credit are: God's Not Dead, with six songs written by Millie (Who Do Men Sayl Am was written by Tim); Heavenly Homecoming and The Bible Says So were written by other family members.
The Dennis Family has one prayer today. That each person they meet or anyone who hears them sing will be able to see and witness what lies within their hearts.. .the Lord, Jesus Christ. They want to thank God for everything and using them as a willing vessel to travel and meet friends they have never met before. Because to be a partner in Christ, you have to be a friend, and it is an honor to meet good people and share the grace of God. God's people should have joy in their heart and wake up and be happy that they are serving God and have an inheritance to the kingdom of God.

Paulette Pynes:Well as far back as I can remember my mother took us to church and when I was 9 I accepted Jesus as my Savior. As I got older my mama still took us to church, and then when I thought I was old enough to know it all, I didn't think I needed to go to church or that God would understand that I was young, but I was so wrong. God got my attention and He showed me that He was a God of second chances, and I've lived my life for Him ever since. I've sang and played the bass, with my family for many years now. My mother started the group some 30 years ago and the Lord has drafted me since that day. I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for the Lord, He has given me a wonderful family, a loving husband and children, and I have one grandson so far, that I don't get to see very often because we're on the road, but he knows granny is proud of him and loves him. I can say that because of my mamma's teaching me and showing me about Jesus that I could pass it to my kids and grandkids. What a legacy to leave behind, the gift of salvation.
What can I say? I would've never thought that in all my years of business and travel that God was preparing me for this. I don't know how many people could or would do a ministry such as ours unless they were called by God. I don't know if others see the things that we do in their travels on the highways, but we can see the Lord's hand everywhere. I thank God He has given me the family and the abilities that He has. I just want people to know that there is a hope still left in this world as long as the holy Spirit still dwells with us. Some people would say that they couldn't keep their sanity traveling with their wife, daughter,s on-in-law and sister-in-law, HA! HA! but when God calls you He'll fix everything. When God is your guide he'll provide. I can't ever began to thank Him for His grace and mercy on me all these years and my family. I thank Him for my wonderful wife and family and for all He's done for me and all He's going to do. I pray that our ministry will be an uplift and encouragement to everyone we meet. Wherever we go, we most of all just want to be a blessing and pleasing unto God.
Millie sings tenor and is the comedian of the group. She is married and she and her husband Michael have 1 daughter, Shae, who will be graduating this year (2003) Millie has a lot of different interests. She loves music and loves playing music. She also plays piano, organ & tambourine. She absolutely loves horses, enjoys watching pro- Bull Riding, loves to watch boxing. Her passion has been searching out their Native American heritage. Their (The Dennis Family) roots are deep in Cherokee blood. Millie was elated when Chief Charlene Tuckaleechee Story, gave Millie her Indian name last year, calling her "Seeking Spirit", which the chief said she felt was appropriate due to their on-going work for the Lord. Millie has been nominated and has won several personal awards with various organizations. Favorite tenor of the year & Comedian of the year (CASGMA) to name a few. There has been numerous awards presented to this family collectively, for which they are all honored. God has been so good to us all and we will never repay Him for all he's done. But we can try by loving Him, sharing Him with others and serving Him. This is Millie and The Dennis Family's desire.
Denise Weldon :I've been singing since I was a little girl and I can't remember a time we weren't together singing, playing or something to do with music. I know there has been a call placed on my life, if it weren't I wouldn't do this, as it's a lot of work and a lot of time spent away from family and friends, but they know God's work is important. I can only hope people will see Jesus in me, really I mean that because to see that would mean His anointing is upon me and my life and work. I want to have that always most of all, because that is what makes you who you are. I want to be the best daughter, sister. niece. wife, etc. that I can be, but most of all a child of God. I want to be pleasing unto the Lord and all else will follow. Then one day when He calls me home I'll hear Him say _____ "Well done thy good and faithful servant". That will be awesome !!
Well, my life had not always been lived for the Lord. I had had my share of the world's crowd before I came to play for The Dennis Family, not knowing that God had this grand design for my life, which included excepting Him as my Lord and Saviour. I was totally changed. I played for the group for several years and Denise and I started dating and became husband and wife. Then the Lord placed even more of a call on me, other than playing drums and running the sound. He called me to stand behind the pulpit and preach the word. I ministered with my music, but now He wanted me to answer this call to be a shepherd with a servants heart. I know God wants to use me, and I want to be a willing vessel, always in His will, not in His way. I know if God can save a sinner like me and call me to do all that He has called me to do, then He has a great purpose for my life and I'm so glad He does. I pray my life will be an example, that if He can change, save and use someone like me, He can do the same for you.
